How many tents can be set up at the campsite – In the Mitzpe Nechama Lookout campsite area between 10-20 tents can be set up for camping. (This is just a rough estimate, you can judge for yourself based on the photos and videos attached here.)
Tent pitch surface – In the Mitzpe Nechama Lookout campsite area there is a large gravel area with fine gravel that can provide a very comfortable base for pitching tents and camping. Of course it is recommended that visitors rearrange the gravel after camping so that the area is left in the same condition as when you arrived.
Wind protection – At Mitzpe Nechama Lookout campsite there is not much wind protection. Possible places for wind protection are next to the towering Syrian bunker above the campsite, and also the wooden fence of the pergola in the campsite. The campsite area is surrounded by a low stone wall that does not help block the wind.
Nearby/Far Parking – Adjacent to the campsite there is a dirt parking lot where you can park your car perpendicular to the road.
Number of parking spaces – Over 10 cars can enter the campsite parking area (again, you can judge for yourself based on the photos and videos attached here).
Accessibility for people with disabilities – The parking is adjacent to the campsite overlook and camping area and is just a few meters away on a simple flat dirt road. There is no designated handicapped parking.
What’s at the campsite?
Toilet – At the end of the campsite parking there is one standard chemical toilet stall. The facilities are not adapted for people with disabilities.
Water filling points – At the campsite there is a water tap and sink. The water is good for drinking according to the sign found there.
Shade – In the campsite itself there are a few young trees but they hardly provide any shade at the time of writing this. Also, at the end of the campsite there is a large pergola and under it a KKL table. Next to the table there is room for one or two tents, but setting up a tent and camping in this spot could disturb hikers who arrive early and want to enjoy the pergola.
Garbage bins – In the campsite parking there is one bin for throwing away trash.
Tables – In the campsite area there are 3 stone tables with benches. Also, under the pergola at the end of the campsite there is one KKL wooden table with benches.
Place for campfire – In the center of Mitzpe Nechama Lookout campsite there is a sunken barrel in a pit for lighting a campfire.
Attractions at the campsite – At Mitzpe Nechama Lookout campsite there are two main attractions – behind the pergola there is a wooden rocking bench overlooking the view, and on the other side of the pergola there is a small Syrian bunker with trenches that you can walk through.
What is allowed/prohibited at the campsite?
Allowed/Prohibited amplification – There is no explicit prohibition on using amplification at the campsite, but of course if you are not alone at the campsite, it is not recommended to disturb other hikers. Although the campsite looks secluded, you can see the town of Yonatan from it, and playing loud music could disturb the residents.
Allowed/Prohibited generators – There is no explicit prohibition on operating generators, so it appears to be allowed.
Allowed/Prohibited campfires – At Mitzpe Nechama Lookout campsite there is a dedicated barrel for lighting campfires for the purpose of camping in the center of the campsite.
Allowed/Prohibited dogs – There is no explicit prohibition on bringing dogs.
